TOUR ROUTES

1Interior of the CastleThe interior of the castle takes visitors back not only to the times of the last Rožmberks, Vilém and Petr Vok, but also to the famous Buquoy family. They held the castle from 1620 to the end of World War II. The family museum was stated as early as the middle of the 19th century to show the valuable collections demonstrating the glory of the family who in fact, came from France. The look of the castle today comes from the romantic/gothic period. Typical of this period is the entrance hall with its richly decorated wooden staircase, the Crusaders Gallery with fictive portraits of Crusade commanders, the armoury with a collection of weapons and suits of armour from various historical times. The older period (beginning of the 17th century) is represented by painted decorations in the so called, Knight’s Hall. The castle’s collection of paintings includes works by famous painters such as Karel Škréta, Jan Kupecký, N. Grund and others, and also portraits of significant personalities including Perchta of Rožmberk – the White Lady. English
